Mr Paul Jex

Artist | Collector | Researcher

I am interested in expanding the distances and boundaries in relation to places where we meet art.

Throughout my work, found/researched images are essential; to appropriate is to collect, the two are significantly linked.  The cultural impact of reproduction became the source and inspiration for my practice.

My output is unhurried and measured, considered and evaluated with the transition of technology from the artisanal to the digital age.

The collaborative processes of referencing and acknowledging art are holistic approaches which include considerations of audience participation and negation. Galleries and museums are inspiration and resource. Books, photographs and photocopies and other printed resources are intrinsic to my work providing challenge and opportunity.

My work invites improvisation and chance along with intention and procedure.
